Jehovah Shammah (The Lord is There)

Text: Ezekiel 48:35

  1. Background.

    1. Ezekiel, the Prophet of God,

      1. May God Strengthen Him,

        Ezekiel 3:7 “But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.”

        See I Samuel 8:7

      2. God removing His Glory,

        Ezekiel 10:5 “And the sound of the cherubims’ wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh ”

        Judges 16:20 “And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.”

        Ezekiel 10:18 “Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.  ”

        Ezekiel 11:23 “And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.”

      3. The Future revealed to Ezekiel,

  2. The Meaning,

    1. God is There,

      1. The Name of the City,

        Mark 2:1 “And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.”

  3. Application,

    1. What does it mean to us, to Know that God is Present with us?

      1. In Our Spiritual Lives?

      2. In Our Physical Lives?

        Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

        Matthew 28:19&20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
