Text: Galatians 5:13-26

  1. Who Is In The Driver’s Seat?

    1. Legalism, Just Another Form of Bondage,

      1. “You have been called unto Liberty”

        See: Mark 7:22, Romans 13:13, Ephesians 4:19,

        II Peter 2:7&8 “And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) ”

        Romans 6:16 “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? ”

    2. The Source of Service, Love,

      1. “By Love Serve One Another”

      2. Love is what flows through the conduit,

      3. Your Original desire,

        See Leviticus 19,

        Leviticus 19:18 “Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. ”

        Mark 12:29-31 “Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”

    3. walk in the Spirit,

      Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

      Vs.17 tells

      1. The Fruit of the Flesh,

      2. the Fruit of the Spirit,

Points for home:

  • Freedom is not to be treated as unrestrained lust.

    • I Corinthians 10:23 “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.”

  • Rather than focusing on Religion, or Legalistic ideas, we can live in the will of God simply by allowing the Love of God to flow through us as a conduit.

    • Thus fulfilling the intent of the entire law.

  • There is no all encompassing list of do’s and don’t, it is a matter of living by the Spirit of God, or Living by the Lust of the Flesh.
