Daniel Lesson 24

Daniel Lesson 24

Daniel Lesson 23

Text: Daniel 12:1-4

Intro: so what does all this mean? What is the conclusion, this is going to be one of the main concerns of Daniel as we close out the book. For Daniel, he was told a lot of the events, yet he still wanted to know, so what is the end of all this, and we will get to that. Last study we looked at the transfer of focus from Antiochus to the Antichrist. There are many similarities, however in comparison to brutality and a shear hatred of the Jewish people there really is no comparison. I think we will get a gimps of that as we study.

  1. The End of it All,

    1. At That Time,

      1. Questions of Hermeneutics,

        1. At that time, the question here really becomes What is “That” time.

          • As we read and see the persecution that will take place on the people, 12:1 and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time

          • Daniel 9:27 speaks of the Antichrist putting an end to temple sacrifice, and defile the temple,

          • Daniel 11:31 we see a very similar passage about the desolation.

          • Jeremiah 30:7Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

          • I have made the point to Kim, that if I were Jew, this verse would scare me to death,

            • think of all the troubles thay have had…

          • Daniel 9:12 says… “And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.

          • Daniel 12:11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

            • 2,290 days…. we will come back to this.

          • Matthew 24:15 as Jesus is telling about the end times, he mentions the things they will see, and then He says “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,…”

            • So Jesus is using these verses to make a point,

            • by the way, this gives credibility to the authority as accuracy of the book of Daniel. There are those that reject it as being God’s word, but you have a hard time rejecting it, if Jesus used it.

            • Jesus adds in this passage Matthew 24:21 “For then shall be great tribulation as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be”

            • this also helps us conclude that we are not talking about Antiochus,

              • Yes he was hard, but he was one of several that were. The fact is that even some of the Jewish kings did evil on par with him.

              • But the Antichrist will be on a whole different level.
