Daniel Lesson 25

Text: Daniel 12:5-13

  1. Daniels Final Instructions, Vs.4-13

    1. The Book, vs.4

      1. Seal The Book,

        1. this is a phrase of much concern to many,

          • and tho we do not understand all there is to know, we must take things in context,

          • as well as looking at them under the norm of the day and time they were written.

            • We know Daniel was a trusted man in the Persian empire,

              • he was a “wise man” left in charge of many, and held a trusted post in the government of Persia.

        2. Daniel would have been accustom to receiving and giving orders.

          • By messengers, correspondence, in code as well as plain speech.

        3. In the days of Daniel, there was a process to preserve the integrity of any witting,

          • that was to make two copies, one would be issued to the reader, the other sealed and stored away.

            • Jeremiah 32:1-12 speaks of the purchase of a field, and when the purchase was made, it was sealed up in a book, and on the day of redemption of the field, the book was unsealed, and presented to the elders there to confirm the writing of it.

              • vs.10&11 says this was done in accordance with the law, and the custom.

        4. In this context, This is not hiding it away,

          • vs.10 of Daniel 12, does point out how knowledge and understanding will increase,

            • but this is contingent on the person who is willing to study, put in the effort, and depend on the Holy Spirit for the understanding.

      2. Jesus confirmed,

        1. Matthew 24:15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

          • so Jesus was making the point that understanding can come from reading,

        2. also look at:

          • Revelation 22:10And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

            • using the same wording, this time, the record stands for it’s self.

        3. So II Timothy 3:16&17 is still true “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

    2. The Times, vs.5-7

      1. The Two Angels,

        1. standing on either side of the Tigris River,

          • the first one in linen, is most likely the same one found in Ch.10:5&6,

          • the per-incarnate Jesus Christ,
